Becoming a mother having a bleeding disorder

Giving birth to a child is a complex event and asks for a lot of precautions. Being aware having a bleeding disorder, aggravates necessarily the precautions becoming a mother.

Becoming a mother, a woman has to consider the chances and the risks for herself, for the couple or family and for the newborn child. Those three different angles of looking to motherhood form very often a burden on the decision. Hence it is wise to share thoughts, ideas and feelings about this also with the general practitioner, the specialist in haematology, a gynaecologist or a family planning counsellor.

You will find guidelines for woman with bleeding disorder who would like to give birth. We recommend following the procedures folded out in those guidelines.

If a woman decides giving birth, she might consider using the procedure of the pre-implantation genetic diagnosis. This procedure is not allowed in every country. The future parents need to consult a centre for medical genetics.
