Studies say XMRV virus is not linked to CFS, prostate cancer

Results of four studies conducted by U.S., British and Japanese researchers indicate that previous research that associated the XMRV virus with chronic fatigue syndrome and prostate cancer may have involved contaminated samples and chemicals. "Our conclusion is quite simple: XMRV is not the cause of chronic fatigue syndrome," one of the researchers from University College London said. The investigator stressed, however, that the research doesn't mean that CFS is not caused by a virus of some sort. "We cannot answer that yet," he said. "But we know it is not this virus causing it."
