On 27 January 2009, the European Haemophilia Consortium, in collaboration with the European Association for Haemophilia and Allied Disorders (EAHAD) launched the European Principles of Haemophilia Care in the European Parliament, under the patronage of Dr Miroslav Mikolasik, Member of the European Parliament.
The event aimed to take stock of the situation for Haemophilia patients across Europe, after the EHC 2006 parliamentary event, and to raise awareness on the need to reduce disparities of Haemophilia Care across the European continent. Over 75 participants, including Members of the European Parliament, clinicians and health care professionals, researchers and patient representatives discussed the impact the implementation of the 10 key principles could have on patients' quality of life and well being.
The event ended with the signature of the manifesto by a dozen of Members of the Parliament.
