Researchers develop test for vCJD
Researchers from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, together with Prionics scientists, have developed a test for identifying variant Creutzfeldt-Jacob disease in blood plasma. The test, called enhanced QuIC, employs an antibody-based method with enhanced real-time quaking-induced protein conversion reaction. The researchers used eQuIC to detect scrapie in hamsters and are planning to use the test on other animals as well. Yahoo!/Asian News International
