Jo Eerens is a patient with mild haemophilia. Born in 1954 in Brussels, Belgium, he has a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and a master’s degree in theology, with studies completed in Munich, Germany and Rome, Italy, respectively.

Jo became involved in the international haemophilia community in 2007 when he joined the Belgian haemophilia society as Director. In 2010 he became the first staff member of the European Haemophilia Consortium (EHC), where he remained until his retirement in 2019.

Jo has worked in social support and education sectors throughout his professional life and now continues his engagement in the haemophilia community as a volunteer.

He was elected to the Steering Committee as a lay member in October 2020 and was appointed by the Steering Committee as Vice President of Finance in November 2023.
