European Haemophilia Consortium (EHC) launches Mental Health Toolkit for the bleeding disorders community
10 October 2026
On World Mental Health Day 2026, the European Haemophilia Consortium (EHC) has launched the EHC Mental Health Toolkit, a resource to support mental health awareness and action across the bleeding disorders community. It is aimed at patients, carriers, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and staff and advocates of EHC National Member Organisations (NMOs).
The World Health Organization (WHO)’s 2026 World Mental Health Day theme is “Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change.” It calls for people with lived experience to shape the policies, services and decisions that affect their lives. The EHC toolkit reflects this principle by drawing on the experiences of patients, carriers, and caregivers who took part in the 2025 EHC Mental Health Survey, which gathered 325 responses across 27 countries.

What is the EHC Mental Health Toolkit?
The EHC Mental Health Toolkit is a guide to mental health for people affected by bleeding disorders. Its content is based on the findings of the 2025 EHC Mental Health Survey, with responses from patients, carriers and caregivers in 27 countries.
Who is the toolkit for?
The toolkit has four self-contained sections, each written for a specific audience:
- Patients and carriers living with a bleeding disorder
- Caregivers supporting someone with a bleeding disorder
- Healthcare professionals who work with the bleeding disorders community
- EHC NMO staff and advocates
Readers do not need to read the whole toolkit. They can go straight to the section written for them.
Can EHC NMOs adapt the toolkit?
EHC NMOs are welcome to adapt, translate, or combine the toolkit’s content with local resources. NMOs that would like guidance can contact the EHC.
