EHC launches new project on ageing with a bleeding disorder on World Geriatric Day
The EHC today launches its groundbreaking Living Well, Ageing Well project, addressing a critical shift in the bleeding disorders community as people with these conditions are living longer than ever before. Recognising that ageing well has become an essential focus for their work, the EHC marks World Geriatric Day 2025 with this timely initiative, bringing together leading experts, patients, and caregivers to explore how individuals can maintain healthy, active, and fulfilling lives at every stage of ageing.
The comprehensive one-year project (2025-2026) will deliver content through webinars with live expert conversations, virtual cafe talks featuring pre-recorded discussions with healthcare professionals, and peer pioneer podcasts where patients share experiences. Each format addresses essential topics including nutrition, mobility, frailty prevention, mental well-being, and the lived experiences of older people with bleeding disorders, with monthly content designed to empower individuals to take an active role in their health.
The project features an international lineup of multidisciplinary speakers including geriatricians, haematologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, pain specialists, and patient advocates from across Europe and beyond. The year-long schedule includes key dates such as World Haemophilia Day (April 17, 2026) and concludes with an in-person EHC Round Table on Cardiovascular Issues in Bleeding Disorders in Brussels, Belgium.
The EHC emphasises that this initiative goes beyond traditional knowledge sharing to foster a supportive community where members can learn from one another, exchange experiences, and actively shape discussions about ageing within the bleeding disorders community. Community members can participate through the EHC Online Question Box, where individuals can anonymously share questions, concerns, and stories about ageing with bleeding disorders.
The Living Well, Ageing Well project is developed independently by the EHC for informational and educational purposes, helping to redefine what it means to grow older within the bleeding disorders community.
