To mark International Women’s Day, held on 8 March, the EHC Women and Bleeding Disorders Committee is delighted to share its Principles of Care video with you.

The EHC Principles of Care video is currently available in English here and in French here (translation prepared by the Association Française des Hémophiles).

The European Principles of Care for Women and Girls with Bleeding Disorders results from work led by a multidisciplinary working group composed of the Committee on Women and Bleeding Disorders of the European Association for Haemophilia and Allied Disorders (EAHAD) and members of the EHC Women and Bleeding Disorders Committee, highlighting the needs of women and girls with bleeding disorders in Europe, stressing the importance of access to specialised and comprehensive care for women and girls with bleeding disorders and raise awareness amongst clinicians of the needs of this cohort.

The article was published in the scientific journal Haemophilia in September 2021 and can be accessed here. An infographic summarising the principles can be accessed here. On the EAHAD website, you can find the Principles of Care in multiple languages (AR, DE, ES, IT, RU).

These principles are a tool for patients, patient groups, families and healthcare professionals to advocate for and demand better healthcare services for women and girls with bleeding disorders. Let us celebrate 8 March all over Europe by helping to raise awareness and demand better access to treatment, care and research for women and girls, and so wish them well on Women’s Day!
